What to do on week

A typical week-end for exemple :

ARRIVING :

Exploration of your holiday house.

Relaxation in the swimming-pool (lien à faire with swimming pool) or near the fire in the chimney, it depends on the time.

Why not well-being in the private spa (link with spa) if you choose this option.

Bicycle trip : cycle-path are just in front of the house and you will be charmed by the different landscapes of our country-side :  fields and meadows, wooded Eure valley.

2 km away, near Spoir, the castle of Boulard where your teen-agers probably would want to stay for paint-ball, while some others would prefer discover the famous fresco “The dance with the Death” in the church of Meslay le Grenet.

You may look at the golf and the equestrian center which are very near, in Fonteay sur Eure,  to organize your week activity.

At night : a barbecue in the garden or a nice dinner inside.

 

First day – Sunday

In Chartres visit the cathedral in the morning or at the end of the afternoon, you will be at the best moment to admire the light coming across the 2600m2 of the stained glass windows.

In the near you can enter in the cellier de Loëns where is also the Centre international du Vitrail.  

In le Musée des Beaux Arts  you will discover some very interesting paintings.

 

In the afternoon – after your pick-nick in the museum garden or outside on a terrasse – it would be

nice to go down town, via les Tertres  (little passages from the Middle Ages ) to the river banks.

You can also joint the lower town with the little tourist train.

La petite Venise , a park close to the Eure river will enjoy and rest you with his boats and pedaloes…. But the swimming pool in le Grand Gite is there to relax you.

 

Second day :

We suggest you to visit Versailles or the Castles of the Loire-Valley.

Or another pleasant suggestion : take a marvelous lazy day in the swimming pool, in the garden, in the private spa, three opportunities in  your holiday house.

 

Third day :

Why not go for a visit of the castle of Maintenon and the Garden of Bois-Richeux ?

 

From April till October you may go back to Chartres to see Chartres Light Show. More than 30 monuments and places of interest are illuminated in colored lights joint to the rhythm of music.

 

Fourth day Wednesday :

Direction Brou to have a troll on the market, (open on Wednesdays) very famous and animated market. Town situated on the river l’OZANNE is very picturesque and worth a visit.

In the afternoon discover Illiers-Combray where lives the family of Marcel Proust, a famous writer. Here you can visit the house of Aunt Léonie, the Pré Catelan, a classified garden.

But above all don’t’ forget to taste a “Madeleine” a well-know biscuit thanks at the book of the youth memories of Marcel Proust.

Very near you can see the castle of Villebon, XIVth c.

 

Fifth day :

Direction Bonneval  : ride electric boat on the Loir  to explore the fortifications of the town Châteaudun  to visit the fortified castle remodeled during the Renaissance and considered as the first castle of the Loire . See also the unusual caves of Foulon(lien à faire avec places to visit).

From those two  cities on the Loir you can navigate canoe kayak

 

Sixth day

Once again make yourself at home and enjoy our booking holiday house and relaxation on site.

 

This is a typical week-end to provide ideas ; there are so many activities around our 12 guests accommodation !
